Everyone loves summer. The days are longer. The rosé tastes better. But there is one negative to summer that we can’t deny. It can get hot. So hot and so humid that sometimes it can be hard to dress cute. Some people solve this by wearing shorts and tank tops all summer. But there are so many other options! Summer is a great time to let your style soar. Here’s how I styled a pleated skirt for a playful summer look!
This outfit proves you can be a bit more covered up and still totally comfortable in the summer heat. It’s all about the fabric, ladies! I’m telling you, if you find a cute longer skirt or even a long sleeve blouse, don’t count it out for the summer. Fabrics and materials like this accordion pleated skirt and crocheted top are ideal for humid days without feeling sticky and gross. The skirt adds volume without adding bulk. For a chilly evening at the beach I threw on a denim jacket, and still kept the look casual.
The indigo blue skirt is Alice + Olivia’s Essie pleated mid-length skirt. Pleated skirts are super versatile. They can be dressed up with a white button-up for work or casual with a top like the crocheted one I’m wearing. Another thing I love about pleated skirts is they’re timeless; they’ve been popular since the 1950s and never seem to go out of style. Pleats add a playfulness and feminine touch to any outfit.
The yellow cross body bag is a closet staple from Thale Blanc. Mid-length skirts tend to draw attention to your shoes, which is why I added a pop of texture with these fun tortoise shell platforms from Charlotte Olympia. While this outfit is mostly blue, I definitely wasn’t feeling the summer blues!
