San Francisco… classic + colorful

Recently, I took a trip to San Francisco where I enjoyed architecture, sunshine, and West Coast style alike. Since I was working while in the city, I knew I needed to bring along some of my tried and true business casual staples. Without shopping for new pieces, I challenged myself to do what I encourage my clients to do all the time: mix and match pieces that are already in your wardrobe to create new and interesting looks. Ultra Violet…

A true showstopper, Ultra Violet is Pantone’s color of the year. And for good reason! Intense, empowering, and dreamy are just a few words that do this specific shade justice. Unique to any of the trending colors that we’ve been seeing for the past few years, Ultra Violet has a true rockstar-esque presence. Prince, Bowie, and Hendrix all favored the blue-purple for it’s royal quality and stage presence. In all honesty, I feel pretty stage-ready (or runway-ready, rather,) in my own Ultra Violet look.

Traveling has always been a huge source of inspiration for me. I’m fortunate enough to have visited some truly beautiful places with unbelievable venues, delectable food, and of course, stunning scenery. Each time I step foot onto new territory, fresh styling ideas spark to life. If I had to determine the most influential element of these memorable trips, it’s always the colors around me. Flowers on trees, patterned beach blankets, vivid plating at restaurants, and even a glimpse of a bird or a fish can influence some of my most successful looks.

If you’re anywhere on the East Coast, you’ve been experiencing Mother Nature’s indecisiveness for about a month now. Even if I wake up to 50 degrees, I have no idea whether I’ll be shedding layers or switching to rain boots by mid-afternoon. Frustrating? A little. The perfect excuse to start wearing all of my new spring buys? Absolutely.
