Without the constant magic and joy that NYFW provides Manhattan, the city reverts to its default for mid-February — a bleak, gray winter. To escape the seemingly endless gloom and cold winds, I recently hopped on a plane to visit some of my favorite spots in Miami and inject some sunshine back into my daily routine. Not only was this trip filled with blooming plants and fresh air, but I also took full advantage of the humidity and warmer temperatures by pulling out some of my favorite seasonal transition garments. When it’s too warm for sweaters but not quite time for mini skirts, I tend to find myself wearing long, breezy ensembles that I can feel confident in – despite unpredictable weather.

Layering pieces are a must for this time of year, especially in a climate like Miami. This particular look features a wardrobe favorite of mine, my striped kimono. The statement outerwear is light enough to welcome a sea breeze on sunny days, covers enough to protect from nighttime beach winds or a chilly restaurant draft, and works in harmony with this crystalline body suit to complement these cobalt trousers. The bodysuit itself is a work of art, drawing attention up to my face and adding a bit of glitz to an otherwise casual look. It’s truly a versatile wardrobe staple that dresses everything up and puts a smile on my face each time I put it on. This look took me from daytime seaside fun to an intimate dinner at one of my favorite Miami restaurants – the Surf Club at the Four Seasons. After all, memorable venues require memorable outfits.
These chunky velvet heels and embellished bag added much needed pops of texture to this day-to-night combo, and were easy finishing touches to an already easy outfit. A body suit, a colored trouser, and a sleek kimono make up a quick outfit formula that any woman can utilize from what’s already in her closet. Wherever you’re going – whether you’re traveling abroad or just meeting the girls for happy hour – plan to get a few looks! When you feel good in an easy outfit like this, you automatically appear confident and collected, which is always a combination that will turn heads and attract compliments.
