Transition wardrobes be gone, for fall is here! I’m lucky enough to start my sweaters-and-jackets rotation on a daily basis, but for those who are married to suits or scrubs from Monday to Friday, the weekend is prime time to express yourself with your wardrobe. Make the most of your 48 hour break by putting an elevated spin on otherwise laissez faire looks. Look your best and feel your best, even if you’re just running to the corner store.

Looking and feeling our best starts with intentionally shopping for clothes that flatter us and work with other garments we already own. When we shop for clothes, what often happens is that we’ll make a purchase without considering how we’ll style it at home. Or, we’ll get something easy like a pair of jeans or graphic tee, and wear it the same way time and time again. Dig yourself out of that rut and ignite your creative brain by challenging yourself with what I now consider a go-to weekend outfit formula: jeans, a graphic tee, and a blazer.
This leather blazer is one of my favorites for the season. While I can easily wear it over a cocktail dress or paired with a pencil skirt, I like to dress it down just as much. From Alice + Olivia, the supple leather is baby-smooth and adds just a touch of masculine (yet elegant) flair to any outfit. I’ve layered the jacket over an embellished tee and ripped jeans for a look that I can wear all day. It’s comfortable enough to run errands and still sophisticated enough for a happy hour with friends, making this outfit formula a no brainer for the entire season.
Not only can you wear this ensemble just about anywhere, but it looks good on nearly any body type – and you probably already have the basics in your closet. Not a graphic tee person? A plain t-shirt and necklace combo gives the same effect. Don’t own any blazers? Substitute for a dressed up bomber or jacket with a unique texture. Infuse your personal style, and try to make the most of what you already own – I promise, you’ll be referencing this outfit formula from now until the snow starts to fall.
