Skirting past January…

To honor my last post about introducing new items into your closet for the new year, I wanted to kick things off with an updated wardrobe staple: the maxi skirt. A closet favorite for many women, the maxi skirt somehow gets recycled season after season no matter which trends come and go. When we think about skirts, spring and summer automatically come to mind. Floral pleats dancing back and forth across runways, full gowns sprinkled over a beautiful springtime wedding venue, and draped sari-style skirts covering the latest swimwear at the beach. However, I consider the maxi skirt a seasonless wardrobe staple! All you have to know about styling a skirt for winter is how to layer and how to utilize seasonal color palettes.

New year, new wardrobe…

The new year has started! We’ve torn off the last of our 2017 calendar pages, vowed New Year’s resolutions, and started to put holiday decorations away. It’s a wonderful feeling — the fresh start of a new year with all of the possibilities and unknowns. Not only can this apply to your work and lifestyle, but it can apply to your wardrobe as well. Every year I’m sure to continue building my wardrobe with interesting pieces. And even if a new garment or accessory seems “out there” or “trend-forward,” sometimes I’ll surprise myself by simply trying it on. That being said, I’d love to challenge all of my readers to try new things in their wardrobes this year!  Drawing a blank of what to add? Searching for inspiration? No worries. ‘Tis the season to sparkle…part 4

As the year comes to a close, so does Wardrobe Envy’s Sparkle Saga. I figured it’s best to go out with one of the most luxe looks of all — a shimmering maxi fit for a winter wonderland. Many people associate red, green, and silver with the holidays. But I think otherwise. There’s just something about a gold monochromatic palette against a fresh fallen snow that sets off holiday carols in the back of my head and makes me crave a good cup of hot cocoa. And that can be difficult to find, considering there’s rarely a “fresh” fallen snow in either New York City or Los Angeles. So I’m celebrating accordingly!
