The shine continues this week with every fashion lover’s coveted item — the dressy blazer. The beauty of a blazer as opposed to a cardigan or bomber is that it creates more shape for your body. And because jackets like this do come in every style and cut, it’s relatively simple to achieve the shape that you’re going for with the blazer alone. Maybe you have one in velvet, or suede, or a tuxedo-style with satin lapels (or maybe you have one of each!) My blazer of choice this season falls perfectly into my holiday saga of sparkle. A sequined blazer is a one-way ticket to dressing up even the most casual of outfits. It’s the perfect tool for bumping “casual” to “fabulous” and for elevating “dressy” to “stunning.”

Not only do I adore the way this blazer looks, but I love the way it feels. I’d honestly compare it to liquid gold because of the way it drapes off of my shoulders and slinks with every move. The cuffs roll up to expose a sliver of black, offering a breather to what would otherwise be a heavy metallic block, and showing an extra inch or two of wrist automatically elongates and slims the arms. To complement the cuff and draw the entire outfit together, I’ve gone with mostly black for the rest of my garments. The black straight legged trousers follow the line of the jacket’s straight hips for a streamlined look and the graphic tee that I’ve paired underneath is one more element that breaks up black-on-black-on-gold.

Wearing such a funky blazer with a casual tee definitely boosts the versatility factor. I can easily wear this to meet with a client during the day, but just as easily grab dinner and drinks wearing the same thing. If t-shirts aren’t your thing, you could just as easily swap out the relaxed cotton or silky cami-style tank. This look is just as comfortable and nearly as casual as a tee. As always, I’ve channeled my inner-70s goddess with the overall silhouette and details of this ensemble. Even my Alice + Olivia clutch is timeless! While the beauty of fashion is that you’re allowed to take risks, you should still leave traces of your signature style in every outfit.
