It’s no secret that I have a love for color….strong, bold, vibrant colors have been something of a signature for me for much of my adult life.But this year I am embracing warm neutrals and developing a fondness for it….the trick, of course, is to find the right sort of neutral that suits you.  Are you a warm neutral  girl or a cool neutral girl?

I, for one, am drawn to a warm neutral, which complements my hair and skin tone well, and in particular prefer warm neutrals that are strong/bold that pair well with bright colors too (I can’t help myself!).

Here I paired this checkered dress with a long black fuzzy cardi (for texture), which leads me to another special interest that is changing the direction of the world of fashion: sustainability.  This particular dress is from The Conscious Collection by H&M and this piece is an example of how even fast fashion can be sustainable while being stylish and trendy.  “Fast fashion” is described as inexpensive clothing that is produced rapidly by mass retailers in response to the latest trends.  Retailers like H&M are expanding their sustainable offerings by designing clothing that uses at least 50% of sustainable materials like organic cotton and recycled polyester.

With that said, I think all of us should strive to be more ecologically minded….and fashion conscious. Below I’ve listed a few easy ways to make your wardrobe a little more sustainable…

1-try to always buy organic cotton

2-recycle, repair, upcycle old items to give them new life

3-buy less, choose well

4-donate, sell, swap items you don’t wear

5-shop vintage and thrift stores

6-read the labels when shopping

7-research brands you love for their corporate social responsibility statements

8-restyle your wardrobe (or click “ask the stylist” button on my website) for fun tips

What I wore;

Dress- H&M

Sweater- & Other Stories

Belt- Dior
