Floored for Spring…

April 25, 2017

Statement jackets are pieces that you can wear all year round, dressing up and down for different occasions. I love investing in jackets of all colors, designs, fabrics, and even lengths – because I know I’ll be able to wear it way more than once. Don’t want to be caught wearing the same coat in 5 of your Instagram photos? No worries. Your jacket can take on multiple personalities, and it’s all how you style it!

I’m on the more petite side, so longer coats have never been one of my favorite things. As a shorter woman, I don’t want to feel like I’m swimming in my clothes. I opt for very fitted pieces that show off my frame. However, this pastel pink floor-length coat works very well for my spring wardrobe. I just have to create the illusion of looking taller.

You can create this illusion too. Go for a high-waisted jean or pant like this pair; something that’s streamlined and minimalistic. Tuck in your favorite blouse or graphic tee to show off your waist and elongate the leg. Pair with some stellar heels for extra height. My color palette for this look in particular is soft pink and warm browns. It’s an unexpected duo, which makes this look even more extraordinary.

The proportions of your outfits make all the difference! If you’re short like me, remember the leg-elongating tips. If you’re curvier, look for pieces that show off your favorite parts of your body (like your waist or chest.) Maybe you’re tall and want to show off your shoulders or legs. Whatever your frame, looking for pieces that fit you properly are going to be the key to dressing successfully, come any season.

You pulled off the ‘Volume & Flair’ look so well.
The off-the-shoulder blouse with the flared out skirt – perfect combination! You definitely stray away from what’s trending and that’s refreshing. Truly timeless!
