Like history, all great things in fashion repeat themselves. Enter: the revival of the military trend. With structured silhouettes and androgynous accessories, it’s a statement that takes some skilled styling to pull off.

This intricately appliqued military jacket is the spotlight of today’s outfit. The boxy shape is perfectly balanced by the leather leggings and sexy stilettos. A chunky knit underneath gives the ensemble a pop of color, and also helps the heels stand out. And because my bottom-half is so streamlined and on the sexier side, the funnel neck is just the right juxtaposition.

Keeping with the warm color palette, I’ve chosen a Gucci crossbody with gold highlights. It’s just the right amount of extra color to keep the outfit from being one-dimensional. If yellow isn’t your thing, you could also go for the opposite end of the color wheel and accessorize with a royal blue or teal.

You can dress this jacket up or down. If you’re not a stilettos person, you could enhance the military vibe with some combat boots. Heeled or flat, the buckles and laces of a boot would really take the outfit in a more casual direction. If you want to go dressier, layer this coat over a bodycon cocktail dress or a plunging neckline jumpsuit. And like always, don’t forget to accessorize!
