Recently, I took a trip to San Francisco where I enjoyed architecture, sunshine, and West Coast style alike. Since I was working while in the city, I knew I needed to bring along some of my tried and true business casual staples. Without shopping for new pieces, I challenged myself to do what I encourage my clients to do all the time: mix and match pieces that are already in your wardrobe to create new and interesting looks. It’s actually much easier than it may seem!

Do you often open your closet to an overwhelming cluster of garments you see on a daily basis? Even amidst beautiful colors and patterns, do you find yourself reverting to the classic skinny-jeans-and-cardigan combo? While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this, it can err on the side of boring when worn too often. I’m constantly pushing myself to create new looks with the items I already own, and sometimes I even surprise myself! This time around, it was quite easy to come up with fresh ensembles for my trip out West. After all, I was in a city full of incredible architecture and rolling hills for inspiration.
This particular look started with a navy blazer. I knew I was headed to a work function on this day, but I still wanted to be comfortable and casual while out and about, wandering the city and enjoying yummy bites and coffee. Inspired by the stacked Painted Ladies and the colorful foliage, I decided to don my floral bell bottom jeans. The explosive-yet-dainty embroidery truly fits the scene, and provides just enough flair alongside the traditional jacket on top. Staying true to my ’70s aesthetic, I layered a primary-color-accented baseball tee underneath the blazer for a dressed down look. It adds an air of playfulness to what could otherwise be a simple outfit that has been done before.
I tied in the color and playful nature of the jeans near the neckline by wearing a painter’s palette neckerchief and charm necklace from Dylanlex. My most important accessory, though, was this leather belt bag. Not only did it come in handy for sightseeing, but it was pretty convenient during happy hour as well! With a staple pair of heels and bright lip, I walked out the door that morning with all of the confidence in the world — ready to take on the beautiful city and my plans ahead.

What I wore;

Jeans- Alice + Olivia

Tee, belt bag, neckerchief – Madewell

Necklace- Dylanlex
