One of my favorite parts of autumn is accessorizing with different outerwear and I think the hero piece of Fall is the statement coat….although they don’t get the credit they deserve, they can really change the look of any outfit.
Take today’s look for example…my top and jeans are pretty casual, but with the addition of this beautiful red coat from Alice + Olivia, the outfit became elegant and pulled together. This has become my favorite fall coat, so much so that I have it in a vibrant pink color as well. I kept accessories minimal with a Prada bag and classic sunglasses, which was all I needed for my weekend trip to Newport, RI.
Colored coats are an excellent way to add vibrancy and bright colors helps to keep things fun in the colder months. Alice + Olivia, as you may know if you are a frequent reader, is one of my favorite designers, and they have so may stylish coats in all different shapes and colors for Fall and Winter. The Angela Long Coat is an excellent lightweight option for the warmer Fall days. Though the relaxed fit of this coat lends itself to a casual look, the long length can look great with business attire as well.
I wore this outfit for a walk around The Breakers Mansion in Newport Rhode Island, the summer home of Cornelius Vanderbilt. The mansion is considered one of the grandest of Newport’s summer “cottages,” and made it the perfect setting for my grand statement-piece coat.
