Transitional versatility….

3 A fancy way of saying that you can buy clothes that can bridge the seasons….and as much as I enjoy the summer weather, I am truly looking forward to fall.

Today’s look illustrates how one skirt can be worn in a way that creates two entirely different and seasonally appropriate looks.  On the right, summer look . On the left, fall.

And the bridge? A soft, flowy pleated maxi with a simple butterfly print.

For my summer look, I paired this maxi with a sleeveless denim shirt and gold metallic wedges. The faux croc belt, another Alice + Olivia favorite, compliments the look, along with a Proenza Schouler tote.

HT3A6347I love my Lucky Elephant Tory Burch rings!

For my fall look, I pulled a long sleeved crop top and decided to mix prints a bit by adding leopard print heels.  This particular look was inspired by Frida Kahlo, a Mexican painter and feminist who was best known for her self portraits. She was before her time by always wearing a statement necklace and following her lead, I am wearing a vintage Lanvin necklace, courtesy of my friend Karen Ellman, owner of Vintage Virtuosa, in Westport, CT.  In the evening, I’d add a chunky sweater to this look.
