Blue is one of those unspoken colors that looks good on everybody.  Navy, royal, indigo — if it’s a shade of blue, you can bet that it’s going to compliment your complexion and body type. In order to stand out from a sea of winter blues this season, make sure that you mix and match different textures and fabrics to come up with a look that’s all your own.

To create the illusion of dimension in this monochromatic ensemble, I’ve opted to pair my denim-look  jacket with my “goes-with-everything” pleated shimmer skirt. The jacket, with its fur collar and boyish fit, is very on trend right now. You can find boyfriend fit jackets this winter in any store and in any color. And I absolutely love this skirt because I can wear it for nearly any occasion and during any time of the year.

I’ve tucked in a bone-colored lightweight sweater, and finished off the look with a simple pointed toe pump in the same palette. These are pieces worth investing in, because you’ll end up wearing them again and again, styling them various different ways. This time, I’ve gone for high contrast styling in my accessories. The burnt orange leopard print clutch leads the eye toward my statement necklace from J. Crew in a similar hue.  Jcrew has become one of my go-to spots for lux costume jewelry at a great price point. These pieces add great complimentary elements at two separate points. And as a little play on the purse, my tiger’s eye rings are a novelty (yet fashionable) way to complete the outfit.
